Disney+ is a Movie and Tv show streaming service an I think Disney Plus is a great service and provides plenty of value for the customer. The redesign of the Disney Plus App is my own project. This case study focuses on improving the user interface and user experience of the mobile app.
Understanding the product, I started to analyze design of the existing Disney plus apps and finding out strengths and pain points of their current design. Then I started to get inspiration which leads to Ideation process. The pain points include:
Complex Navigation:
Issue: Users find it challenging to navigate through the extensive library of Disney+ content, leading to frustration.
Solution: Simplify the navigation by implementing a user-friendly and intuitive categorization system, such as genres, franchises, or personal preferences. Include a search bar for quick access to specific content.
Content Discovery Issues:
Issue: Users often struggle to discover new Disney movies and shows beyond the latest releases.
Solution: Enhance content discovery by introducing personalized popular (recommendations), user-curated playlists.
I began getting inspiration from existing designs and started sketching designs and wireframes to understand user flows.
The Design process starts with using cool colors are highlighting and dark mode color theme, and the serif font typography.
Example
At the beginning of my design process I created wireframes for testing purposes.
Once I tested out all usability mistakes, I started designing the final screens in Figma.
